
Uttarakhand: Expelled BJP leader Kamal Rawat has been arrested on charges of raping a minor. According to the information received, Rawat was arrested on the evening of 31 December. Earlier, BJP had expelled the accused from the party. On December 29, Rawat was accused of raping a minor. A day after the case was registered, BJP took action against Kamal Rawat.
Police have said in this case that the accused was arrested from Champawat in Uttarakhand on December 31. His arrest took place late in the evening. Police officer Yogesh Upadhyay said that Rawat is accused of raping a minor girl. The accused of raping a minor will be presented in the court. A case has been registered against the accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and relevant IPC sections.
According to the police, the medical examination of the victim was done on December 29. But the statement could not be recorded in the court. According to reports, Champawat Superintendent of Police Devendra Pincha said that local BJP leader Kamal Rawat has been booked under IPC sections 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (intimidation) as well as the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. . Apart from this, POCSO has also been imposed against Rawat.
