A round of meetings has started in India Alliance regarding the Lok Sabha elections. On Wednesday, a meeting was held between Samajwadi Party and Congress regarding seat sharing in UP, but the formula for seat sharing has not been finalized yet. After the meeting, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that half the way has been completed and half is left.There was a discussion on seat distribution between the representatives of SP and Congress at the house of Congress leader Mukul Wasnik in Delhi on Wednesday.
A panel of party general secretaries Ram Gopal Yadav, Javed Ali, Lalji Verma and Udayveer Singh had reached this meeting on behalf of SP. In the meeting, discussions were held regarding every seat in the state. Both the parties shared the list of seats of their choice with each other but the final decision has not been taken yet.After the meeting, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that half the way has been completed, half is still left. Congress leader Salman Khurshid said that no decision has been taken regarding the seats. Now we have given our respective lists and shared with each other our respective facts regarding seats in detail. We hope that some more reactions will come from their side on this, after that we will take the final decision.The Congress leader said, discussions have been held with SP regarding all the seats. But we will decide amongst ourselves on which seats we will contest and then a decision will be taken on that.
We have discussed every seat in which we or they are interested. We will let you know when everything is decided. The next meeting will take place very soon. He said that if necessary, Rahul Gandhi or Mallikarjun Kharge will talk to Akhilesh Yadav. Half way is between them and us. We both want the path to be complete,On alliance with BSP, Salman Khurshid said that this will decide our leadership.
It is believed that SP is in favor of giving 10-15 seats to Congress whereas Congress is claiming to give 20-25 seats. Mayawati has announced to contest the elections alone, due to which the fight has become difficult for the opposition in the state. In such a situation, both the parties are moving forward with caution.
