An assistant professor working at Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) in Haldwani has passed away. It is being told that the matter came to light on Wednesday when the employee arrived with breakfast. The sudden development of the professor’s death is being viewed with suspicion. At present, the police have handed over the body to the relatives after the post-mortem. The cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes.

According to area medical post in-charge Praveen Tewatia, resident of Dwarahat, Prof. Hemant Kandpal (45), son of Tara Dutt Kandpal, was working as an Assistant Professor in Uttarakhand Open University and lived here on rent in Tulip Colony, Haldwani. It is said that when the employee reached his room with breakfast in the morning, despite several calls, he did not come out and when he reached inside, Hemant was found lying unconscious on the ground. When checked, he was not even breathing.

The employees informed him and the family members were also informed by phone. With the help of ambulance, Hemant was brought to Sushila Tiwari Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Outpost in-charge told that the exact reason behind the death of the assistant professor will be known only after the post mortem report comes. There is a wave of mourning in the university on the demise of the Assistant Professor. Vice Chancellor Professor OPS Negi, Registrar Professor PD Pant as well as officers, teachers and employees have expressed their condolences.
