According to the entire case, on Thursday, the deceased Madan Ram, aged 50 years, resident of Naugawanath, had gone to the forest to collect leaves. When he did not return home from the forest, a search was conducted by his family members and villagers. The dead body of a villager was found in the forest of Kilpura forest range on Friday morning. On receiving information about the death of villager Madan Ram in an elephant attack, Range Officer Kilpura Manoj Kumar Pandey along with Forest Inspector Kheemanand Arya and other staff reached the spot and took the body into custody. Information about the incident has also been given to the police. The deceased used to earn his living by working as a laborer for his family.

 

The body of a villager killed in an elephant attack in Kilpura forest range was brought to the civil hospital by forest staff for post-mortem. Chakarpur police outpost in-charge Priyanshu Joshi and forest inspector of Naugawanath area Kheemanand Arya filled the panchnama of the body and took the body to the civil hospital. The body was recovered from West Kilpura II Plot No. 3, 150 meters inside the reserved forest area. Range Officer Manoj Kumar Pandey said that the villagers have been warned not to enter the reserved forest area.

 

In the past too, letters have been issued to the heads of villages adjacent to the forest requesting them to do so, yet people are still entering the forest, leading to incidents of human-wildlife conflict. He said that after necessary action is taken, action will be taken to provide compensation to the family members of the deceased under the Wildlife Act.
