While there is a stir in Uttarakhand due to the swift action of Vigilance against bribe taking employees and officers, today another corrupt district has come on the radar of Vigilance in Udham Singh Nagar. Here the Vigilance team conducted a raid and arrested the accountant red handed while taking bribe.

According to the information, the complainant lodged a complaint in the Vigilance Establishment office, he had applied for 2 plots in Aldico Sidcul, for which even after allotment and full payment, he was posted in the office of RM Sidcul, Sitarganj in lieu of providing NOC of the Registry. Accountant Umesh Kumar has demanded a bribe of Rs 9000/-.

The complainant did not want to pay bribe and wanted legal action against the corrupt employee. Vigilance Establishment Sector Haldwani conducted a confidential investigation on the complaint and found it to be prima facie correct and immediately a trap team was formed. Acting as per the rules, the team on Friday arrested Umesh Kumar, son of Om Prakash Joshi, resident of Chandmari, accountant of RM SIDCUL, Sitarganj.

Police station Kathgodan district Nainital has been arrested red handed at SIDCUL office Sitarganj while taking a bribe of Rs 9.000/- (nine thousand rupees) from the complainant. Interrogation of the accused is going on, advance investigation will be done by registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the said case. The same Director Vigilance, Dr. V. Murugesan, announced to reward the trap team with a cash reward.
