Uttarakhand High Court has issued a notice to the Forest Development Corporation and the government on manual weighing of mineral material extracted from Gaula river and illegal mining.  January is next hearing

Advocate Dushyant Mainali said that petitioner Piyush Joshi, a resident of Halduchaud, Haldwani, filed a PIL in the High Court saying that the mined material in the rivers is not being weighed as per the rules but is being weighed against the rules.  The government is losing revenue due to this. Said that instead of illegal mining and electronic hooks, manual measurement is being done in Gaula river.

In this, RBM is being assessed on the basis of quantity, which is causing harm to the environment and encouraging illegal mining.

Today, taking the PIL seriously, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Vivek Bharti Sharma has issued a notice to the Forest Development Corporation and other parties and posted the hearing of the case for January
